Building Green, Building Better
The Eastforest Homes Group of Companies is constantly evolving so we can make better built homes and make the living in our communities, now and in the future.
A better built home is a healthier, happier environment for our homeowners.
A better built house also makes an important difference to our world - through research in construction science innovation to the resources we utilize in our business, Eastforest Homes is proud to a good steward of the environment by raising the standards of consumer education, builder consciousness, trades instruction and community support. Here's how:
Energy Star Standards... a Better Way to Live.
Life is all about the choices we make. Investing in an Eastforest home is one of the
Better choices you'll ever make. Our high standards, quality of materials and understanding of the science of home construction means we build a
Better house, so well-made that they're ENERGY STAR® qualified.
It's comforting to know that, on average, you'll pay about 30% less for energy in an Eastforest home. And since ENERGY STAR® comes standard with your Eastforest home, there's no additional fees so you'll start saving on your monthly utilities as soon as you move in.
Our staff at every sales office can discuss more with you in person or you can download more information like:
The Discovery Home Education Centre a Better Way to Learn.
The Discovery Home Education Centre was created to be a destination of learning to best understand the science of construction through product innovation, construction process and GREEN best practices. With over 70 wallboards explaining what we've built and how, anyone can learn how simple it is, as a builder or a buyer, everyone can make a difference, such as choosing a dual flush toilet in your home or making sure as a builder your stair wood is coming from a company that practices sustainable forestry management - for every tree pulled, 10 more are planted
The Discovery Home is open to the public and staffed by co-op students in the building programs at Conestoga College. You can learn more about the contributions you can make as a homeowner, find out how by visiting us at 307 Sophia Crescent, Kitchener, click here to download map.
Inside and Out... a Better Way to Build.
Eastforest Homes understands that being a better builder means being a leader, and helping others to build better. Every year, members of our team attend
Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) conferences in North America to identify and understand construction science innovations and changing industry best practices. Our staff are active at the Board and Executive levels for Waterloo Region and Brantford Home Builders Associations, representing a voice for environmental practices.
Eastforest Homes is an industry leader in Site Waste Management. In 2008 alone, we diverted over 496 metric tonnes of waste away from landfills and into recycling and reclamation programs - materials such as wood, mixed wood, cardboard, construction debris and compost.
We ensure our trades carry through on these policies, who:
- have environmental and recycling best practices included in their scopes of work
- are continuously evaluated to ensure best built homes
- must attend training in our office, such as on Air Tightness Procedures
- have access to our training manuals in every site office
Being green means being concerned... about the environment, about the homes we build and about you. We hold ourselves and the people we select to work with accountable, so that when you choose Eastforest Homes, you know it's the
Better choice!
